Which Way to Albuquerque?

This morning I was awake at 6:30. Yes, that would be A M. So I thought to myself, might as well take advantage and go for a walk before it gets too warm. null

Bear in mind, I am a native. The weather here only gets hotter every year. I was “glistening” when I stepped out my front door. We won’t talk about how I looked when I got back.

Besides fragrances, heat is my most instant migraine trigger. So I guess I am thankful that my sister pursued a corporate gym membership null…cause you know I won’t get hot in there. null

Perhaps Alaska? null

I Love You Sis!

Today is not a day like any other for you, and my heart cannot adequately express what it is feeling. The best I can do is encompass it in “I Love You”. If it were within my means I would give you the world, starting with Greece, and ending with someone special for you to come home to.

I cherish you in my life, and I would be so lost without you!

Migraine Hell

I have not been posting much lately do to a rampage of migraines recently. They hit a sudden crescendo Thursday night and I ended up going to the ER hoping for some relief.

I am learning the ER is not the place to have a migraine, yet I was not allowed to die either. I have Basilar Migraines and had possibly one of my worst ever Thursday night. It came on extremely fast, skipped my usual warnings, and hit 10 within thirty minutes. I also have convulsions with them from time to time, and this was the time.

So my parents take me to the ER where my doc is on staff and requests I go, even though it is 15 miles away and past at least 4 level 1 trauma centers. The people in triage have never heard of a basilar migraine so they say, “Oh, she has a headache.” I was amazed at the control my father exhibited. Then they ask if I am having seizures and what is that from.

Now in light of all that, my parents have to fight with them for a gurney because I am falling out of the wheelchair, and dry heaving from being held up instead of laying down so my body can calm down. They finally find one and tell my parents they will get a room right away. HA!

The staff parks me in hell the hall, under the sun (or so it seemed) next to the soda machine, may as well have hit me repeatedly with a sledge hammer each time a can rolled down (I am sure other migraineurs can appreciate that) and amongst a crowd of people who are loud, laughing, and carrying on. Fortunately my mom kept telling the different groups to be quiet. So there I am convulsing, heaving, crying, writhing, for four hours!

During this time, I need to use the rest room. My mom just had knee replacement surgery so she could not lift and steady me so who does the hospital send?? A MAN! I am too out of it to argue, couldn’t tell you now who it was if I ran in to him. Bless her heart, I think she was way too stressed by the whole situation to say anything either.

There is no dignity when you go to the ER with “just a headache.” I am sure glad this is not everyone’s experience, and it says a lot for going by ambulance!!

Discreet? or Trouble??

I have a hands free ear piece for my cell phone. It is the type that doesn’t show unless you see it from the side. This afternoon I went to the car wash and I decided to call a friend while I was waiting for my vehicle.

One lady walked by me and I got the typical “huh?” “what?” response, that you get when someone thinks you are talking to them. Still oblivious to the dangers of talking on the cell phone when those around you don’t realize that you are, I see my vehicle coming out and I approach the counter to pay. I hand the clerk my coupon and my bill and as she processes it, I continue to talk to my friend on the phone. Now I know this is rude, and I was trying to avoid it, but could not get off the phone and I needed to pay.

Boy did I pay! The clerk was having trouble figuring out the coupon, no big deal. NO BIG DEAL? At the same time, speaking to my friend who is at work, I ask, “So how long ya gonna be stuck there?” The clerk responds with, “I’m sorry…I’m kind of new here.” null
