Long Absence
It has been far too long since I have posted. Traveling and then a long bout with migraine disease
has taken the oompfh out of me.
First I went to the British Virgin Islands, Tortola, to help my friend do business with the government. It is really kind of fun, we were redeeming British coins, and they were beautiful. The weather was unseasonably hot, which was unpleasant, but it also made the water a great temperature for snorkeling, and swimming with dolphins. We saw jellyfish, an eight foot nurse shark, and a lone stingray, all gifts from our Father to bring special joy to our day. Being lifted out of the water on the nose of a dolphin
is a high that is incomparable. We also took a sea plane ride to St Croix, and ferry boats to St John and St Thomas, all for island tours. The plane trip to Tortola, the sea plane, and the airplane home, all set off migraines that took me out for a brief time, but all in all the trip was great!
When I came back sick, a great friend who wanted to help me escape illness for awhile took me on a trip to California, also by plane. Once again the plane proved challenging to all attempts to ward off the “beast” as it is referred to around migraine circles. We paid a very important and uplifting visit to Downtown Disney while we were there. We took many sit down breaks as we walked the long stretch of those way overpriced stores and restaurants. And then we found it. The unbelievable World of Disney store. Oh My Gosh!
It is like going to WalMart, only everything inside the doors is pure Disney. Disney everything! Books, CDs, DVDs, jewelry, T-shirts, pictures, statues, teapots, toys, and on and on and on! I was as close to Disney heaven as one could get without actually going into Disneyland. For moments, it took me away, I wasn’t ill or weak, I was in Disney. I have always found escape to be good, as long as you don’t stay there. Of course that evening we had the plane trip home, I succumbed to migraine, but God used it to launch another miracle I will write about later.
Upon returning, I was subject to two weeks of almost constant migraine episodes. I went to Urgent Care, the neuro’s, (who stopped my new med for a clearing out) then the ER, I just kept becoming more and more ill. Yes, I have decided no more back to back trips, especially if they have to do with an airplane. After another conversation with my doctor, and finding out that you shouldn’t cold turkey that med, I went back on them. Now a week later I am starting to go uphill, gain strength, and feel much better.
Hopefully this means you will see me around here more.
